Journey On Reflection

These types of relaxation techniques really relax me. I really focus on doing what the man is saying and I can really picture it in my head. This form of imagery really helps me relax and  I feel totally different. Picturing the blood flowing to different parts of the body make me focus and block out the small sounds around me. This puts me in relaxation mode. As he talks about the sponges being dry or wet it helps me focus on what he is talking about and comparing them to. I find myself watching myself breathe the right way and my body just feels totally different and more relaxed then when I first started.

I think using this daily could really help keep my blood pressure down and give me the ten minutes a day I need of quiet time to myself. The hustle and bustle of daily activity will take a toll on your mind and sometimes I find that happening and I can not concentrate on school work but once I get a run in I feel good. Maybe on the days I can't run if I take time to do this relaxation technique I will start to feel better physically and mentally

This cute little guy in the tree is what I kinda feel like when I am done this technique. Very relaxed but not tired like him.

  1. Renee,
I love your picture..I soooo felt like this guy when I was done with the exercise. I unlike you did feel very tired when I was finished I think I needed to spend more time thinking about feeling energized as the exercise was finishing. My session was interrupted right at the end which probably played a role in why I still felt tired even after the exercise was complete

  2. Renee and Laurie,

I think its funny how your experiances differed (Renee not being tired and Laurie being tired). I for one fell asleep the first time I listned to it. Not a bad thing I suppose but it definatly didnt leave me feeling energized.

This is a really cute picture. Just by looking at it I already feel at peace. I think that it is amazing how just a song, picture or vocie (like the exercise) can relax your body, heart and soul in just one moment. Now If I can remember to keep these pictures and thoughts in my head then I think my day will emotionally and physically go better.
    Great post,

  4. Hi Renee,

The picture is great! The Journey On activity is one of my favorites because of how relaxed I feel when done. I am glad to see that it worked so well for you :)

  5. Hi Renee,I do think that the autogenic training technique will be helpful in lowering stress levels and blood pressure. From what I understand this technique is used to link and restore the balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic regions of the ANS. I will spend some time practicing this technique and hopefully it will work for me :)It was very nice to meet you and I hope to read more posts next week.

  6. Renee,

That picture is perfect! I can totally relate! After chasing your 2 boys around and making sure all the house work, school work and professional work is done we need this to keep a sound mind. I am so glad it worked for you.

It really is a nice thing to look forward to. I have been researching on youtube and have found some videos of nice meditating music and other guided imagery. I need to find one where I like the persons voice though lol. I went into my previous stress class but they closed it on the Kaplan homepage so I could not access the one I liked on there. I may email the professor. I am trying to go off my blood pressure meds so I want to find something great that I can do each day to have that quiet time to myself for the inner peace! lol
